Prosodie is today committed to an ethical approach in which respect for the environment and sustainable development have a key role. As a member of the United Nation’s “Global Compact” organization since 2008 Prosodie is a player in the Green IT movement in France working on a number of areas that involve the company as a whole as well as each individual employee.
Prosodie is already in the process of examining the means ofand optimizing the daily use of resources by the hosting infrastructure in within its eight datacenters around the world (including the use of electricity, air conditioning, servers and virtualization software). In partnership with one of its biggest largest clients, Prosodie is learning about a new type of installation server housing known as the ‘cold corridor’®. The ‘cold corridor’ that allows the cold flow from air conditioning and the warm air flows from the servers to be separated or partitioned in the most effective way.
The benefits and the resulting savings resulting from this equipment is already being analyzed by a working group from the French Ministry for Ecology, Energy and Sustainable Development of which Prosodie is an active participant.
At the same time, in 2009 Prosodie carried out an analysis of the carbon emissions resulting from its activity in France. This project provides Prosodie a first evaluation of its power situation and allows for prioritization of the actions that will take place in the coming years regarding its organization and infrastructure.
The company’s implication in favor of Green IT is greatly appreciated and shared by all of the employees. They are very sensitive to the principles of Sustainable Development and are committed to a policy of garbage sorting, energy saving and an environmentally friendly approach notably in the purchase of office ware and paper. All of the company’s publications are now exclusively printed on paper that meets the PEFC or FSC standards.
In 2008, Prosodie also became also a member of the association “Planète Urgence” to take part in a global reforestation project allowing for as many as 4,000 trees to be purchased and planted each year.
Since 2009 the company’s in-house video diary has offered a ‘minute verte’ (green minute) that gives an update on the company’s progress with all these initiatives. This section has notably placed the emphasis on “good practices” that Prosodie employees are invited to adopt in their everyday work at the company.
